Clare McGrady
Clare McGrady is a second-year master’s student in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University. Clare’s specialization is in development economics, and she works under Dr. Mywish Maredia. Their work together has focused on projects in East Africa exploring food security, nutrition, migration, and employment issues. Her thesis project explores the role of sanitary and phytosanitary measures on trade balances in East Africa and the implications on producer welfare.
Clare received her B.S. in mathematics with a minor in economics from Texas Christian University in 2020. She recently interned with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service in Seoul, South Korea, where she met with multiple commodity group delegations, attended meetings with Korean agribusiness leaders, analyzed trade data, wrote market analysis reports, and updated commodity briefs for American producers interested in the Korean market.
