Ivy Mackereth

Ivy Mackereth is a third-year student in the Natural Resource Economics PhD Program at West Virginia University (WVU), from which she expects to graduate in 2026. Prior to attending WVU, she graduated summa cum laude from Frostburg State University with a B.S. in Public Policy and Quantitative Economics.

Ivy’s research focuses on applications of big data in addressing economic issues in agriculture, food, and natural resources that affect local communities. Motivated by her time growing up in rural Appalachia, Ivy is interested in conducting interdisciplinary research to benefit underserved populations within the region. Her ongoing work encompasses credit access issues faced by small-scale farmers. In her dissertation research, she aims to leverage her training in theory, methods and computational techniques to address challenges in food and environment affecting local communities.
