Rebecca Weir

Rebecca (Becca) Weir is currently in her third year of the Applied Economics Ph.D. program at the University of Minnesota. She obtained her M.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in 2022.

Becca grew up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota and her research is focused on farm management and farm production in the dairy industry. Her current research projects include analyzing county-level impacts from livestock consolidation in Minnesota and analyzing the impact of a collaborative on-farm advisory team on dairy farm profitability for Minnesota dairy farms.

During the summer of 2022, Becca interned with USDA-ERS and worked on topics related to the farm income and wealth statistics data product, specifically documenting forecast methodology and analyzing the accuracy of the estimates. She has also engaged with agricultural policymakers in Washington D.C. as an Anthony Grano Fellow in 2021. Furthermore, Becca served as a graduate instructor for APEC 3811 – Principles of Farm Management each of the past two Fall semesters (2022 & 2023).
