North American Agricultural Safety Summit, 2013
The North American Agricultural Safety Summit convened Sept. 25-27, 2013, at the Marriott Minneapolis City Center Hotel. The Agricultural Safety and Health Council of America (ASHCA) hosted the summit, which was attended by agribusiness leaders, safety experts, researchers and members of the legal and medical communities. Farm Foundation, NFP was a collaborator on the summit.
“If our agriculture industry is going to feed 9 billion people, the projected world population by 2050, then we should care enough to do it safely, humanely and sustainably,” said William Nelson, Agricultural Safety and Health Council of America (ASHCA) Chair, and Vice President of Corporate Citizenship for CHS, Inc.
The summit featured non-traditional sessions to match safety interventions with production practices and emerging safety issues. A “genius bar” will provided participants the opportunity to interact directly with speakers on issues not covered in formal sessions. Interactive learning stations allowed participants to choose from a variety of topics, as well as hands-on access to such options as e-learning, webinars and safety demos.
