PREISM – Program of Research on the Economics of Invasive Species Management

More than 100 industry leaders, government regulators, biological scientists and researchers examined the economics of invasive species affecting U.S. livestock and crop production at a workshop in May 2003 in Washington, D.C.  Farm Foundation collaborated with USDA’s Economic Research service to present the conference at which participants discussed implications for policies and programs to prevent or control invasive species.

USDA accepted applications for competitive grant and cooperative agreement awards as part of a $1.5 million Program of Research on the Economics of Invasive Species Management (PREISM).  Workshops schedule in subsequent years were an opportunity for grant and award recipient to discuss their work and identify additional areas where work was needed.
